Currently based in London, Wallis Bird was born in Meath, where she received her first guitar from her father as a six month old. Having studied songwriting at the Ballyfermot Rock School, she went on to tour Europe extensively. She made her debut with Spoon before releasing New Boots in ’09. Her latest, self-titled album will be released in March. Bird is a double Meteor Award winner and has toured with Billy Bragg, Gabrielle, The Feeling & Rodrigo y Gabriela.

Four things you might not know about Wallis Bird…
– Born left-handed, a childhood accident resulted in the singer having to have the fingers on her left-hand sewn back on. She subsequently learned to play a right-handed guitar upside-down.
– Her cover of Depeche Mode’s ‘Just Can’t Get Enough’ was used by The Sun in an advertising campaign.
– She says she only found her sound when she moved to Germany following Rock School.
– She signed a major worldwide deal (excluding Ireland and the UK) with the legendary Columbia Records in 2009.
