Coming together in 2003 through mutual friends and a ‘Musicians Wanted’ ad in Hot Press – we’re glad to have been of service! – Royseven are not only huge in Ireland, but also in Germany, Austria and Switzerland where they’ve played with such heavy-hitters as Bryan Adams, Duran Duran, One Republic and Reamonn, the Hamburg-based band fronted by expat Kerryman Reamonn Garvey who has been very vocal in singing their praises. The winners of ‘Best Newcomer’ at the 2011 VW Sound Foundation, the Roys mix big, soaring pop choruses with the sort of stagecraft you only get from spending a decade in the trenches together!

Four things you might not know about Royseven…
– In a previous life, lead singer Paul Walsh was a Chelsea FC physio.
– On top of Royseven duties, Paul has gone back to college and is also part of RTÉ 2’s Two Tube team.
– The band’s ‘We Should Be Lovers’ was 2011’s most-played Irish single on Irish radio.
– The song also soundtracked the global advertising for VW’s ‘UP’ car.
