Jinx Lennon joining the seminar - Has Irish Music Lost it’s Soul?

jinxlennon303wJinx Lennon is the man about whom Christy Moore has said “In the last two years I’ve been to maybe 10 gigs and 4 of them were Jinx Lennon’s. For me, the best songwriter in the country at the moment is Jinx Lennon. And he matters. He matters to me. And we don’t hear him because he’s telling the truth. He’s singing about this island we live in as it is, and he doesn’t get airplay. Why doesn’t he get airplay? Because he’s telling the truth. And why can’t people deal with that truth? Because it’s very raw, and he doesn’t sugar it up.” Damien Dempsey has dubbed Jinx as ‘the best lyricist in Ireland.’ Lennon is Ireland’s leading maverick punk poet, MC, musician, performance artist and, by some people’s standards, a bit of a weirdo who declaims his graphic yarns of modern Ireland in his undiluted Louth accent. His performances blend aspects of magic, rawness and anger with a confrontational attitude, flavoured with generous amounts of his biting wit and humour. All of which has been magnificently captured on such riveting recordings as his 2008 album Trauma Themes, Idiot Times, and Know Your Station, Gouger Nation.
