Villagers
Villagers are master of understated folk-rock Conor J O’Brien and some ‘esteemed colleages’. O’Brien started out in hotly tipped indie-rock outfit The Immediate. That band produced a Choice Music Prize-nominated album, In Towers and Clouds which was very warmly received, critically and commecially speaking. But in May 2007 it was announced that ‘The Immediate are no more.’ O’Brien went on to hone his skills working as a guitarist with Cathy Davey. Villagers’ debut EP, Hollow Kind was written and performed by O’Brien, recorded by guitarist Tommy McLaughlin and released by drummer James Byrne on his ‘Any Other City’ label. It has received great reviews and their first full-length album is eagerly anticipated.
