Broadcasting panel takes shape with the addition of Tony Fenton
One of the best-known personalities in Irish radio, it was Fenton’s childhood dream to become a DJ. His first big break came in pirate radio stations – ARD, followed by stints with Sunshine Radio and Radio Nova. When Dublin’s pirate stations were shut in 1983, Fenton worked on the live club scene in Denmark and then in Tenerife. After RTÉ invited him to come on board in 1985 he presented shows like The Hotline, The Great Giveaway Show and The National Top 40 on 2fm. Fenton moved to Today FM in 2004, where he presents The Afternoon Show. He was named PPI Music Broadcaster of the Year in 2008. Among the many artists he has interviewed for radio are Annie Lennox, Kylie Minogue, Beyoncé and The Killers.
