Director
Malahide art-rockers Director burst onto the Irish music scene in 2005 with the top thirty single ‘Reconnect’. Their 2006 long play debut We Thrive on Big Cities reached number two in the Irish charts and went platinum, selling 20,000 copies at home. The record was not only commercially but critically successful, receiving Choice Music Prize and Meteor Award nominations. Support slots with major acts like The Fratellis, Goo Goo Dolls and Razorlight soon followed. By 2007, Director were headlining the Trinity Ball and Indie-pendence as well as taking in slots at major festivals like Oxegen and Slane. In May of this year, they released their second album, the far more rock-sounding I’ll Wait for Sound. Recorded in LA with producer Brad Wood (who did Placebo’s first LP and The Smashing Pumpkins’ Adore) it’s a smashing record and sure to secure a new legion of fans for the band.
