Shane O’Neill
Joining the Music Show panel for the discussion on music piracy will be Shane O’Neill, Chief Strategy Officer of Liberty Global, the man who oversees the company’s strategic planning and corporate development activities. O’Neill is also President of Chellomedia, Liberty Global’s content division, and is responsible for LGI Ventures, the group’s investment arm. He also sits on Liberty Global’s Executive Management Committee. During his tenure with Liberty Global, O’Neill has been instrumental in determining and executing the strategy that has resulted in the highly successful turnaround of UPC Broadband which comprises their core European cable businesses. From 1997 to 1999, he was an Executive Director with Goldman Sachs in London, responsible for providing advice on mergers and acquisitions as well as corporate finance to the media and communications industry, including UPC. Prior to this, he worked at Goldman Sachs’ New York, Sydney and London offices. Before joining that company, he spent four years at Macquarie Bank in Sydney and three years at KPMG in Dublin. He received an undergraduate law degree from Trinity College Dublin and is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland.
