Currently polishing off his bass guitar and platform boots for the much-awaited Horslips reunion tour, Barry Devlin is taking time out to add the benefit of his his perceptive views on music and the media to the Hot Press Music Show. After Horslips called it a day way back when, Devlin moved into production, handling U2’s second demo, and two albums for hard rockers Mama’s Boys. Moving into film, he produced TV commercials and directed a rockumentary about the making of U2’s The Unforgettable Fire album. He’s also name-checked in the credits for the ‘Pride’, ‘In God’s Country’, ‘A Sort Of Homecoming’, ‘Bad’ and ‘I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For’ videos. He also worked with Bono on developing a script for the film Virgin Of Las Vegas. The resurrection of Horslips started in 2004 with their Rollback acoustic album, followed in 2006 with their first electric gig in three decades on RTÉ’sOther Voices. 2009 has also seen him in post-production on his new independent feature film A Kiss For Jed Wood, recently filmed in New York with funding from The Irish Film Board.
