Jim Sheridan
One of the most celebrated filmmakers Ireland has ever produced, Jim Sheridan’s films are studded with international hits, and include the Daniel Day Lewis’ career making My Left Foot, for which Lewis won an Academy Award as best actor; the controversial and hugely impressive In The Name Of The Father, which received three Oscar nominations; the critically acclaimed In America (again Sheridan was nominated for an Oscar for Best Original Screenplay) and the 50 Cent biopic Get Rich Or Die Tryin’. A man with a keen interest in and knowledge of music, he has worked extensively with Gavin Friday, and with Bono and Andrea Corr, in producing original music for his films. Sheridan is one of the few Irish directors to have cracked Hollywood. He has also produced numerous movies under the Hell’s Kitchen umbrella, including acting as Executive Producer on Peter Sheridan’s screen version of Brendan Behan’s Borstsal Boy. He continues to write screenplays and to direct, including an adaptation of the best selling Artemis Fowl, and his latest picture Brothers, which stars Jake Gyllenhaal and Natalie Portman, which is due out in December, and for which U2 wrote ‘White As Snow’, which features on their current album No Line On The Horizon.
