The singer-songwriter treated visitors on the day (including students from Pobalscoil Rosmini!) to his own soulful rendition of the Thin Lizzy classic ‘Don’t believe a word’. Impressing his audience, he followed on with a song from his current album ‘Heartbreak Yellow’. Both videos can be seen below:

This time round we were joined by Wexford based singer-songwriter ‘The Man Whom’ aka Ian Doyle. The multitalented soloist has already been compared to some greats such as Andrew Bird and the Villagers and highlighted this in a quiet but powerful tribute to Phil Lynott. Visitors on the day were greeted with a stunning acoustic rendition of the Thin Lizzy classic, ‘Sarah’. If you missed it on the day, the full performance can be seen here below.

The band also gave us a taste of their own material with songs ’Blue Love’ and ‘On Friday’ producing grungey rock’n roll vibes that surpass the expectations for a group so young. All three videos can be seen below.

Of course it’s not all visitors from far afield, in that you can rest assured we’ve had some very familiar faces from Ireland too – not least the keeper of The Vibe flame, Smiley Bolger.

Following a highly successful London O2 run, Still In Love With You: The Philip Lynott Exhibition returns to the Stephen’s Green Shopping Centre in Dublin,Thursday July 19, where it previously ran, with huge success, for a staggering eight months.

To purchase tickets in advance go to <a href="http://www.ticketmaster.ie/philiplynott" target+"_">Ticketmaster.

The highly acclaimed exhibition, which brought visitors to Dublin from all over the world last year, garnering rave reviews along the way, will now return to Dublin for the months of July, August and September 2012, with a programme of events being lined up to bring additional fun and entertainment to the run. As lead singer with the legendary Thin Lizzy, Philip Lynott’s powerful music reverberated around the world.

The Philip Lynott Exhibition attracted tens of thousands visitors to Dublin and London from Russia, Germany, France, Spain, Italy, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Serbia, Japan, Brazil, Argentina, the USA, Canada and many more countries across the globe, as well as from all over the UK and Ireland. Now, in “Still In Love With You – The Philip Lynott Exhibition”, rock enthusiasts, music fans, families and visitors to Dublin alike can get another opportunity to take what is an emotional and inspiring journey through the life and times, the music and the memories of a phenomenal rock star and romantic. Along with guitars, basses and other equipment used by Philip Lynott, tour jackets worn by the singer, flight cases, his personal diary, lyric books, school reports and Lynott’s shares in Manchester United Football Club will all be on display – as well as personal letters, cards and dozens of other unique items.

The Philip Lynott Exhibition also features a huge amount of new material from the archives of Hot Press, as well as additional photographs, original paintings and other exclusive artwork. There are video installations and other audio-visual material, including tributes from Bono, Imelda May, Brian Downey of Thin Lizzy and many more. The Exhibition features an additional treasure trove of items, which were added just before its last run ended. Chief among these is Lynott’s personal diary for 1972, which was recently unearthed by former Lizzy tour manager Frank Murray, as well as personal material from Philip’s childhood and hand-written song lyrics.

“There is something really special about this exhibition,” Hot Press editor Niall Stokes said. “It is hugely entertaining and informative – but it also packs a real emotional impact, which is why the response to it has been so universally positive. It is an extraordinary story of an extraordinary Irishman. “We extended the original run twice,” Stokes added, “but there are still huge numbers of people that haven’t been able to make it along yet, and who desperately want to see the exhibition – so it’s great that we have been able to bring it back to where it all started. “A lot of the interest has come from overseas, with people who’ve travelled to Dublin to see the exhibition spreading the word. We’ve got so many emails and letters that it was impossible to say ‘no’ when we were approached about giving it another run here in Dublin.” The Philip Lynott Exhibition returns to The Exhibition Space, Stephen’s Green Shopping Centre in Dublin from the O2 in London from July 19 – September 30, 2012.

The exhibition is home to the biggest ever collection of memorabilia, song lyrics, exhibits, paintings, tributes and photographs of the late rock legend.

What They’ve Said… “Fantastic… Made me recall memories I didn’t know I’d forgotten” – Scott Gorham, Thin Lizzy
“An evocative and charmingly personal insight into Ireland’s great rock poet” – James McNair, Mojo / The Independent
“An impressive and reverential exhibition… it’s almost as grand in its own way as the National Library of Ireland’s exhibition on the life and works of W.B. Yeats.” – Fintan O’Toole, The Irish Times
“Comprehensive, informative and pure rock n’ roll, this is the definitive Phil Lynott story.” – Ryan Tubridy, RTE 2fm
“The best and most authentic rock exhibition I’ve been to” – Tony Fenton, Today FM
“An amazing collection, incredibly thorough” – Richard Fortus, Guns ‘n’ Roses
“Amazing. A great tribute to the greatest front man” – Ricky Warwick, Thin Lizzy
“This is the mother lode! It’s amazing, I’m really impressed!” – Marco Mendoza, Thin Lizzy
“The Philip Lynott exhibition recently hosted at The BME London is a comprehensive, in depth and excellently displayed exhibition of an iconic front man, lyricist and trailblazer of Irish rock. A must see for all music lovers.” – Paul Lilley, The British Music Experience
“As a lifelong Lizzy fan I was in Rock N Roll heaven ! So many personal items on display from Phil’s Diary, letters to his Mum, Tour receipt’s, Clothing, Guitars…. the list is endless. ” – Paul Anthony, Planet Rock

Proving a hit with punters and critics alike, the Philip Lynott Exhibition, which ran for eight months in Dublin, and was widely acclaimed, is now showing at the British Music Experience in the O2, in London. Now wowing fans in London, Rob McKenzie of Rocktopia described the exhibition as “a stunning exhibition dedicated to the life of a rock legend.”

“Rarely have I used the words ‘must see’,” McKenzie adds. “However, the newly arrived and huge tribute to Phil Lynott truly deserves this praise.”

The review reflects the generally ecstatic reaction to the exhibition in London to date.

“The response on the ground has been brilliant,” says Peter Emmet, who is managing the exhibition for Hot Press, who designed and curated it. “Everyone who has been through it has been singing its praises. But it is great to get this kind of reaction because so much work went into making the Philip Lynott Exhibition happen.”

In what is a very detailed review, McKenzie describes the exhibition in vivid close-up.

“Pride of place,” he says, “was the Thin Lizzy family tree, surrounded by rarities such as personal letters, hotel bills and photos galore and of course the majestic Thin Lizzy chrome and lights sign. One item which caught my attention was an early Seventies´ tour schedule: one day Swindon the next day Middlesbrough for not a lot of money.”

Indeed! And that’s just the start of what is a fantastic journey through the life and times of one of the great rock’nroll romantics.

“I highly recommend this exhibition,” the Rocktopia man concludes. “The only warning is you could spend all day there!”

Following an astonishing eight-month run in Dublin, the ‘Still In Love With You: The Philip Lynott Exhibition’ is heading to London!

It will open at the British Music Experience in the O2. on April 5th. It features a veritable treasure trove of Philo and Thin Lizzy memorabilia, and offers a unique insight into the the life and work of an extraordinary artist. The exhibition is supported by The Doyle Collection, whose Marylebone Hotel is a favoured stop-off point for people in the music, film and entertainment business.

From lyrics books and guitars to stage costumes and Phil’s personal diary, it paints a fascinating picture of Ireland’s first bona fide rock star. “It’s an exhibition for anyone who loves music,” Hot Press editor Niall Stokes said, “and especially for musicians it offers a special insight into what it is to be a musician and a songwriter.”

The Philip Lynott Exhibition also features a huge amount of new material from the archives of Irish music magazine Hot Press, as well as additional photographs, original paintings and other exclusive artwork. There are video installations and other audio-visual material, including tributes from Bono, Imelda May, Brian Downey of Thin Lizzy and many more.

While on showcase in Dublin, the exhibition attracted visitors from the UK, Germany, France, Spain, Italy, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Serbia, Japan, Brazil, Argentina, the USA, Canada and many more countries around the world, as well as from all over the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland.

“The exhibition garnered rave reviews in Dublin and we’re hoping that the reaction in London will be the same,” Hot Press editor Niall Stokes said. “We set out to create something beautiful and brilliant that would reflect the unique contribution of Philip Lynott to the world of rock’n'roll. There is an emotional quality to it which is profound. As such it is, I think, an exhibition that will appeal to everyone who loves music, or who has an interest in what makes a great artist and a great songwriter – which Philip Lynott was.

“Being steeped in music history, the British Music Experience is a perfect place for the exhibition. We are really looking forward to it.”

British Music Experience curator Paul Lilley said of the exhibition, “After seeing the exhibition in Dublin, I am really delighted to be giving fans from all over the UK a chance to see it. Thin Lizzy have a huge fan base, which we can see from their recent UK dates. It fits in perfectly with what we are trying to do here at the British Music Experience, giving fans the chance to relive their favourite moments and offer the next generation of music fans a window to the past by featuring music’s biggest and brightest stars.”

“I’m really thrilled that the exhibition is being shared with the people of the United Kingdom, a place that is close to my heart,” Philip’s mother, Philomena Lynott, said. “There is a huge feeling of goodwill out there towards Philip and so this is going to be an inspiring event – not just for all of the people who loved my son and his music but for every fan and student of great music.”

The Philip Lynott Exhibition will open in the UK from April 5 – June 24 in The British Music Experience (BME) in The O2 in London. The exhibition is home to the biggest ever collection of memorabilia, song lyrics, exhibits, paintings, tributes and photographs of the late rock legend.

The Doyle Collection operate 11 luxury hotels in six major cities, including Dublin. Washington and London. The Marylebone Hotel is one of three acclaimed London Hotels, alongside The Bloomsbury Hotel and The Kensington Hotel..

Monday October 31 marks the last time we close the doors on Still In Love With You: The Philip Lynott Exhibition. Following eight fantastic months that saw fans of Philo and Thin Lizzy come from far and wide to marvel at an exceptional tribute to the great man, the exhibition finally comes to a close.

This weekend marks your ABSOLUTE last chance to get down to the top floor of Stephen’s Green Shopping Centre and take in the greatest collection of Phil Lynott and Thin Lizzy memorabilia the world has ever seen. The exhibition also played host to some of Ireland’s hottest up and coming acts, with the likes of Republic Of Loose, The Minutes, Bipolar Empire and the recent breakthrough act Leaders Of Men among the many names who dropped by to belt out a classic Lizzy tune.

The exhibition originally opened on March 4, for a planned run of one month. It became the longest month in history, being extended on a number of occasions during what was to become an eight month stint.

“It has been a fantastic success,” Hot Press editor Niall Stokes said. “The interest from music fans all over the world far exceeded our expectations, with people coming to Dublin from all over Europe to see the exhibition, as well as from the US, Canada and Brazil on one side and Japan and even Australia on the other. But perhaps the most gratifying aspect of it all was the fact that so many young people got to see the exhibition and fall in love with the music of Thin Lizzy and of Philip Lynott as a result.

“We set out to do something that would do the memory of Philip Lynott proud and the response confirms that we achieved that. Everyone at Hot Press would like to say a huge thanks to everyone who contributed to what was an amazing event.”

The latest band to grace the Philip Lynott Exhibition with their presence were the freshly-crowned champions of the Guinness Arthur’s Day Play On The Day competition and men of the moment, Leaders Of Men.

It’s been a busy month for the Tallaght-based five-piece who now find their services very much in demand. Despite their hectic schedule, the lads were more than happy to swing by the Exhibition and belt out some tunes, including this cover of ‘Romeo And The Lonely Girl’. Check it out below.

Philip Lynott as photographed by Colm HenryEight months on, it’s time to close the doors…

As the saying goes, all good things must come to an end. Following numerous extensions, we’re sad to report that The Philip Lynott Exhibition is finally closing following eight fantastic months that saw fans of Philo and Thin Lizzy come from far and wide to marvel at an exceptional tribute to the great man.

Set to complete its Dublin run on October 31, this is your ABSOLUTE last chance to get down to the Stephen’s Green Shopping Centre and take in the greatest collection of Phil Lynott and Thin Lizzy memorabilia the world has ever seen. The exhibition also played host to some of Ireland’s hottest up and coming acts, with the likes of The Minutes, Bipolar Empire and the recent breakthrough act Leaders Of Men among the many names who dropped by to belt out a classic Lizzy tune.

Bipolar Empire seem to be everywhere you look these days, so it made perfect sense for them to stop by the Philip Lynott Exhibition to play a couple of tunes. As a measure of their hard graft, the lads were just back from a college gig in Limerick with their Arthur’s Day slot that evening on their minds. Three gigs in one day? No bother to them!

“We’re delighted to play here at the exhibition,” said singer Shane O’Reilly before going on to note that the band are huge Thin Lizzy fans. He also revealed future plans, adding that they hope to start work soon on the follow-up to this year’s debut album Feel That You Own It. Fans will have to be patient as there’s the small matter of playing a whopping three festivals in Brazil this October.

In the meantime, check out their take on Lizzy classic ‘Old Town’ below.
