Broadcast from the long grass…

Well friends, it’s been a fast few months in the Revelatorium. Apologies for sporadic blogging, but the latter half of 2011 was heavy harvesting and sowing season, and a man cannot serve too many masters. Progress report in a nutshell: the Rev Murphy relocated to a 400-year-old house in the country in October (took a while to sort out tech specs, but we’re all better now). The second novel is completed pending editorial notes. It’s called Shall We Gather at the River and is due for publication by Faber & Faber in February 2013. Also in the works: the first draft of a radio series for Kevin McCann (seek out his short film Testing Time, Teddy Boy on YouTube), short story manoeuvres in the dark, and exploratory sorties into another longform yarn.
Best book we read last year: Disaster Was My God by Bruce Duffy. Best album: PJ’s Let England Shake. Best film (belatedly) Winter’s Bone, which subsequently inspired a Daniel Woodrell jag.
Number one on the to-read list: Declan Burke’s Absolute Zero Cool. For more info, hop over to http://www.crimealwayspays.blogspot.com/. And while yr out & about, have a gander at DB’s interview with Alex Donald at alexdonald.wordpress.com.
Oh, and keep an eye out for our review of Alexander MacLeod’s Light Lifting in next weekend’s Irish Times books section.
See you on the morrow, or thereabouts.
