Took ourselves off to see The Iron Lady last night (and not 'cos we thought it was an Iron Man sequel). Meryl played a blinder. But why devote half the film to Alzheimer's hallucinations while skimming over Thatcher's rise to power, the hunger strikes, the battles with the trade unions & the miners, the Big Money machinations? The years '84 to '89 were dispacthed in a 60-second collage. It's not often we say this, but the film could've been a good hour longer, and significantly more complex, a la Ollie's Nixon...
