Photography

However, I didn’t learn…am not learning the easy way. Photography was never a goal and pure coincidence stuck my Tigers in the door. Visual art is something I’d've left to those who spent their lives dreaming of it but I was very lucky to discover this medium of unmitigated joy. Initially I enrolled in a PLC course in photojournalism with an aim to hone my writing skills and it’s with a mixture of pride and embarrasment that I admit over the last two years in college I never attended a single photography class, choosing to take the practical path of getting out on the streets and venues to learn instead. As a result it’s been a heady rush to watch my mistakes and achievements bear fruit as my ability’s progressed. The photos you see here are tentative and amateur at times but each one comes from my heart as I’ve worked to get myself and my kids away from the society I refused to resign to: dole, corpo houses and Dutch Gold.
So I will try to share what I have learned with anyone who wants to know. In this section I’ll be posting some articles on the rudiments of music photography and also hints and tips I’ve picked up along the way. If you’re still interested, carry on….
