The last Night Shift show airs on 31 December. Tiiiish, as if anyone will be home to see it off.
Seriously, how can this happen? I know it was on late and had loads of ad breaks but WE NEED THIS SHOW!! There aren’t enough broadcasting outlets for homegrown music as it is, let alone dedicated to independent bands’ videos. What do you think? Are you a viewer? Should it stay? How will we I conduct Evil Harrisons with a kebab now?

Indeed tis a shame… I love little shows like that were the soul far outweighs the budget!! Maybe they have something else planned? Maybe it’s something to do with Michelle going to phantom? Will deffo miss seeing those indie vids on the proper goglebox.
Yes something is about to happen! TV3 is to offload its UK imports to make Channel 6 look like another ITV channel. Why oh why oh why!!!!!!

Yep it’s desperate to lose what is basically the only decent music video outlet we have for bands…I wouldn’t think Michelle’s position at Phantom affected the decision.
As Fight for Nightshift pointed out, the station’s being sold to TV3 for more imports. More bloody imports!
I kinda ranted about this over on Jim Carroll’s blog and went a bit OTT with the independent fervour but there’s an interesting discussion as to whether TV’s become an outmoded device for music broadcasting and the future lies on the Web.

That pretty much sucks. I’m not a big tv fan,but nightshift was always cool. It opened up a new area within the irish indie music scene : indie music video directors, but this kinda kills it
I know tv3 have taken over and it is a sad state of affairs, popscene is still on though and Brian does an excellent job and also plays indie music videos along with mainstream. Is it the case that they are planning on producing a new series/programme that has similar veins to Nightshift? but with an itv/tv3 blueprint..?? Elton did a great hob and its unfortunate news. With the likes of Muzu, Urmuzic and Buzz TV, there still is great platforms out there too however. I don’t think they would have just took it off the air without thinking logistics and or making something else…as the demand is obviously there.
perhaps it all lies on the web as Nay said there…I spend most of my time there checking out music vids and music in general…as I am sure a hell of a lot of people also do. I would really say that they have something else up their sleeve. ok rant over. (o:
