considering how the music industry is changing and how many bands are now doing it for themselves, I see it as a bit of both ... digital downloads for those who find them handy and use the cash generated to produce physical CDS - thats our plan anyway. Love Sewn Up with have a initial run of around 100 cd singles and to be honest, it'll probably be a struggle to sell those as more people seem to be going for the handiness of downloads. cant beat the real thing though.

I think physical releases are safe for a while yet but certainly does no harm to transfer analogue art to a digital form of jpeg or video. It's a challenge for bands to bring that forward and evolve with the change of technology.
79Cz have a very visual aspect to their music in the art/animation talents of Gala and Cormac, as you see from the comic last week, and the new vid (deadlyish it is, the rough edit I saw a while ago).
However downloads are important for the testing phase. It's crap to hear four excellent songs on a website, rush out and buy the album and realise why all the web songs were great: the only ones on the album.

Personally, I love physical releases and try to buy as much of my faved bands' albums as I can. There's a great little buzz to be had tearing off the cellophane and getting to the inlay book, reading the lyrics, looking at the photos and illustrations and who they thank aside from Mam and Dad!
However I tend to buy mostly Irish physicals and download internationals. The way I see it, our lads need the money more :p

The times they are a changin.
Great news for those guys, don't really know them, but I guess now I have no excuse to not check them out.

All this pushing into the digital realm makes me worry for the future of physical releases.
Higher quality formats & nice/clever artwork shouldn't be completely abandoned in favour of digital mediums IMO. Any thoughts?
