Festival : Irish Green Gathering
Irish Green Gathering just kicked off today with Doc Fiasco & Friends taking the main stage first slot at 12pm. Over the weekend a most eclectic expanse of contemporary music converges on Enniscorthy, a real nod to the strength of Irish talent across the scale from Cora Venus Lunny, The Guggenheim Grotto, Fred and 79 Cortinaz to brights like Ugly Megan, Grand Pocket Orchestra and deeper rumbles of Large Mound, Adebisi Shank, Sweet Jane and Rarely Seen Above Ground.
Along with the great selection of bands there’s a strong Earthy presence to the weekend so expect more than just merchandise stands and bellydance sessions. Striving to fit the family-friendly bill, children under 13 are free and a full programme of activities are scheduled in a pavillion and include discos, circus workshops and cookery.
Tickets are €65 for the weekend or €25 per-day. For more info check out www.irishgreengathering.com or Nicola’s IGGblog.
