Photos : Dry County

It’s four days since Dry County and my neck still hurts. Now you’re talking.

Live photo experiences for me just don’t get better. To picture, Dry County are a greasy smear of colour, boom, heat. Cars In Walls and The Eclectic broke the soundbarrier with cool support but the night belonged to DC. The house was packed with an easy, baying crowd who roared “encore!” seconds after the lights went down. We were wired. We wanted Stop, Proceed and by God, we got it.

It was the final gig. though the Dry County banner hoists once more on the New Sounds Stage at Oxegen.
When you’re at Punchestown, check the Chem Bros’ magnificent visuals and decide for yourself if Zach de la Rocha is the shit before topping off with the final Dry County performance, ever.* You’ll be glad to say you were there.
I know I would. For me, this is fuckin’ IT. This is why I take photos, why I blog, why on early weekend mornings after constant work, I wound up back back at my desk again in rapture. This is IT.
Brilliant Irish Music.

AWESOME pics. Really brilliant - I find gig shots so tough cos the meter is going crazy and doing ninety with all the changing lights but you defo managed to get a great range of shots, and loads of them lit up different too! I love the expression on the drummer’s face in the fourth one; they’re all just great tough, fantastic job :D

  2. Andy Says:

Do you think they are changing their name because any internet searches for “Dry County” in relationship to music….just brings up Bon Jovi links? :P

  3. Cauls Says:

It was indeed a fantastic night, and SOOO perfectly captured by you Nay, now it will never be forgotten and shall go down in Club AC30 history!

It’s been a while since I felt that visceral energy from a Whelans gig, from band and crowd, enthralling stuff.

Three ace bands who are the nicest dudes ever, and an effortlessly excellent gig to promote. I’ll be playing this one over and over in my head.

Nathalie - Hey, thanks! Gotta say the light show was fabulous, don’t know who does the DC visuals but they were excellent, saturated colours and textures sprang up. I think the band have their own light props too, there were alien torchpods and glo sticks as well.
You know fun’s involved when there’s glo sticks :)
It’s mad how every PG has their own methods of shooting, I don’t really pay too much attention to settings at gigs and pretty much gauge the strength of the lights and go for as low aperture, high shutter speed as poss. Gotta stop taking so many but can never resist a quirky pose or expression!

Andy: imagine how annoying that must be! New album, new name…gotta love the whiff of confidence!

Cauls, please, I just turned up and clicked! There really was a great buzz, you did a BRILLIANT job of making everyone feel at ease and eager to play. The football in the dressing room was an extra-nice touch!
