A note from the dark room revealed these : free downloads of Love Like Nicotine and Shake, Shake My Ceiling, two storming tracks from DRN’s 2007 Dead Start Program EP. Currently slap-bang in the creation of debut album, the band say recording’s set for London’s Flood Studios in July. Keep an eye on MySpace for some pre-production teasers….
Dark Room Notes will perform in mid-June at the London Calling showcase for Music From Ireland, after which gigs will likely slacken off…so get yourself up to frAntics at the Shaw tomorrow 28 May, just in case!

Sweet, Dead Start Program was one of my favourite records from last year- the best EP at the very least. I’m not normally a fan of arses arsing about with synths, but ‘Love Like Nicotine’ is one of the best pure pop songs of the past few years.
Hyperbole in this post I guess.

Nah, you’re right: Love Like Nicotine was definitely a hit last summer thanks to its arsy synths! I think because it was a big, brave song to go out and demand attention with. Looking forward to hearing the album anyway: giving away songs can only mean they’re making room for more for us!

Saw them not long ago playing to an empty Button Factory, despite the lack of crowd they were really good I thought, I don’t have this mythical EP of which you 2 speak, but I WILL be grabbing a copy of the album when it comes out

God of unsigned bands smote me down! - but you’re better off waiting for the album now at this stage. The good songs are free so!

Hey Nay- bit late getting back to this! Was at the ‘intimate’ gig as well- some really good new stuff! Ran into Camera in town recently and he said that most of it has been changed though so looking forward to the new new tunes!
