Sophie’s Got Good Choice in Music:
Not content with a great reputation for scintillating live shows, good looks and rockstar appeal, The Kinetiks, Penfold DM and DC Tempest now have to show off what big hearts they have.

Organised by the father of three year-old Sophie Andreucetti, who was born with hypopituitarism, this show is a one-off fundraiser aimed towards buying special gifts for children in Our Lady’s Hospital in Crumlin, who are too sick to spend Christmas at home with their families.
Hypopituitarism is a life-threatening disorder of the pituitary gland which regulates the bio-chemicals the brain needs to laugh and cry and also to touch, smell and release necessary hormones combat infections. Children born with Hypopituitarism often suffer under-developed optical nerves leading to blindness in many cases. Sophie is lucky to have full vision in her left eye but developed epilepsy at just a year old.
Many of us are lucky enough to muddle through life with only winter colds, allergies and injuries that come with sport or social activity (my mother broke her ankle a few months ago, the result of vodka, stilettos and salsa dancing in Temple Bar) and rarely encounter the harsher reality of regular hospitalisation which comes with severe illness. Christmas is perhaps the worst time of year to see a loved one fall ill, which is why Simon organised this benefit. Each €15 cover charge will go towards toys and gifts for the children in Crumlin hospital who can’t spend Christmas at home with their families. For the price of two packs of cigarettes, a crap top in AWear or a round of pints, your money gets three of Ireland’s hottest bands in Dublin’s swankiest new venue and will help bring a smile to these brave tots and their families. This Sunday November 18th, Button Factory, Land of Cool…seeya there!
