SEBP and MJEX at Crawdaddy
Well, spellbinder or wot?

SuperExtraBonusParty took to the stage at the old-skool time of 1am and proceeded to work an ambient throng into an appreciative, baying mob in the shortest, sweetest set of only four songs. Scuzzy, anthemic rock fused chirruping electronica into a remarkable hybrid of quality sound and it was a struggle to keep the camera still at times. There’s such a layering of styles here that the possible influences which have stylised the band would probably be longer than this reel of shots. All I could think whilst bobbing around was that it’s impossible to see them fail to crack heads, hearts and homies in their bid for eclectic audio freedom…props to Nialler for the photo-pass!

Despite two studio albums and a string of sold-out concerts Messiah J and the Expert never seem to affect the strut and swagger of their peers in the R’n'B circuit. Emerging to a packed crowd, joy was palpable in J’s lyrical mastery which combined with the Expert’s synths and beats took an extra pitch of exuberance. You could tell they were making this last-for-a-while show unforgettable. The surge of rhythm-connoiseurs certainly seemed impressed: security spent an hour trying to clear the room afterwards as the guys coiled cables and dismantled stands while chatting to many grateful fans. Fair play…may the recording commence, secure on a happy high…

[...] and elbows. Check out Niall’s blog for videos or Dolan for more photos. Already having fairly recent SEBP pics from Crawdaddy in November I decided to go a little crazy on Saturday night. [...]
