I go under the covers with 2 Many DJ’s…literally!

I have to say I am still positively reeling from all the fun from having my two amazing pals Dave and Stef Dewaele, aka 2 Many DJ’s come in to DJ and co host Ibiza Rocks the Radio with me last Wednesday. I know they don’t have the time to do this kind of thing much, and did it as a personal favour, and I love them very dearly for it.  The boy’s were supposed to just do the first hour but as we were having such a laugh they stayed for the whole thing! We got pretty darn cheeky, and were giggling and joking throughout. I won’t give too much away now as I’m going to write an I’m with the Band Under the Covers special in next fortnight’s Hotpress.

But if you can’t wait till then, or fancy hearing all the magic for yourselves, you can listen to 2 Many DJ’s up close and very personal and as you will never have heard them before. I’ve condensed the show into less than an hour of highlights which you can listen to and/or download for free via iTunes… one to listen to getting ready for work, play or just for a good giggle! Search Ibiza Rocks Podcasts 2011 and in the series channel the show’s called ’2 Many DJ’s Under the Covers Radio Special’, or follow this link which will also take you to the channel:

Or, you can listen via youtube:

But what with the buffering and quality not being as good I’d got for the iTunes option…

What should I do when other plpeoe jump in to discipline my son or do so in my brief absence, especially when I don’t really agree with their methods? This happens alot! For some reason, staying calm and thinking the situation through is seen as an invitation to jump right in because the perception is that I am doing nothing or not doing enough quickly enough to their liking. For example, this past weekend we were staying at my brother-in-law’s house for a couple days. My 8 year old commited an minor infraction of disrespect towards his cousin. I was in another room and didn’t see it, but came in to see my brother-in-law having my son stand in the corner. This is what he would have done with his own kids so he wasn’t showing favortism. I would have addressed the infraction, but differently. However, at that point, I didn’t want to turn the brief punishment into an argument so I let it go its course then spoke to my son afterwards to try to debrief him from the shock of that kind of punishment. With plpeoe I don’t know well, I often am caught of guard by their triggered reactions to children’s behavior. I don’t feel comfortable sitting down to explain my parenting method prior to beginning a visit with my husband’s family because I don’t know them well. His parents seem to believe fairly strongly that if they had my son for a week, they could whip him into shape and that even normal childhood behavior is my son running amok from bad parenting. I am sure it looks like this when my son is a bit wilder and his cousins obey immediately out of fear of punishment. They also believe my husband should do more regarding discipline; I agree with them but don’t have in mind the kind of discipline he grew up with.
