Oxegen Roundup Oxegen 2011 | Comments Off
Amanda Brunker finally took to the stage at Oxegen but punters were left a little bemused by her performance. The model and All-Ireland Talent Show judge lasted a mere 10 minutes on the Vodafone Stage after whispering her way through U2's With Or Without You. As she left the stage she declared that she was "happy not have had a brick thrown at me" and also announced that she also intends to quit Twitter in the wake of the controversy. There were a few fond memories to cherish from Day One of Oxegen. Weezer gave an explosive rendition of Teenage Dirtbag, Tinie Tempah ...

PLan B gets Novello nod Oxegen 2011 | Comments Off
While we’re obviously biased and want Villagers to win, we must congratulate Oxegen stars Plan B and Tinie Tempah for their respective Ivor Novello Award nods. The former is up for ‘Best Album’ and ‘Most Performed Song’ while the latter is gunning for ‘Best Contemporary Song’. The UK and Ireland songwriting Oscars will be doled out on May 19 at London’s ultra-swanky Grosvenor Hotel.

Pete Doherty features in new documentary Oxegen 2011 | Comments Off
He may have been absent from last week’s London premiere, but Pete Doherty figures prominently in the new Libertines documentary, There Are No Innocent Bystanders, which chronicles their 2010 reunion tour. Talking about Doherty, filmmaker Roger Sargent says: “It's the first time you'll ever be able to see the truth really. Certainly with Pete it’s just been lies until this film – he's been demonised and projected as some kind of villain in a horror movie almost, and it's not really like that.” After doing the summer film festival rounds, There Are No Innocent Bystanders is likely to get a DVD release ...

The Script promise Punchestown party Oxegen 2011 | Comments Off
The Script have been looking forward to their Sunday night headliner at Oxegen. “We connect with the Oxegen audience because we were the Oxegen audience,” reflects singer Danny O’Donoghue. “I’ve been going to festivals since Féile, the Trip To Tipp! It comes full-circle. If the Oxegen crowd give us just a quarter of the response we got from them last year we’ll have a fantastic night. Bring your lyric-book ‘cause it’s going to be one hell of a sing-song.” Echoing those sentiments, drummer Glen Power says: “You’re walking out to thousands of people who are all sending their love and energy in ...

Slash on demand Oxegen 2011 | Comments Off
Slash has joined with The Transplants in guesting on a track from Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker’s upcoming Give The Drummer Some solo album. Slash also appears in the accompanying video for ‘Saturday Night’, which is a deliciously lazy slice of Latino hip hop. As for the day-job, the guitarist has told an Argentinean website that Velvet Revolver have ruled out giving their vacant singer’s gig to Slipknot’s Corey Taylor. “We did work with Corey but all we were doing was trying him out,” he says. “He didn’t seem to fit to me.” Being a Potteries lad, Slash will be rooting for Stoke City next ...
