    Irish band beat off stiff competition to play the 40th Glastonbury festival Glastonbury | Comments Off
    Cavan five piece Shouting at Planes will play at this year's festival having won a competition organised by Sandra Eavis, daughter of festival founder Michael Eavis The band beat off competition from over 100 other acts, and now join the Irish contingent at the 40th anniversary bash.     Gorillaz set to replace U2 at Glastonbury Glastonbury | Comments Off
    Following the news of Bono's back injury, speculation was rife as to who would replace U2 in their headlining slot on Glastonbury pyramid stage this year... Earlier today there were hints that a British act was set to replace U2, and today festival organizer Michael Eavis confirmed that Gorillaz have been booked for the slot. It is the second year in a row that Damon Albarn will headline the festival, after a memorable festival closing performance by Blur last year. It will be Gorillaz' only British festival appearance and it has been promised to be an audio-visual spectacular .

    U2's management have confirmed that the band will not headline this year's Glastonbury Festival following Bono's hospitalisation for an operation on his spine. The band has also been forced to postpone the first 16 dates of their upcoming U2360° tour of America. As for those postponed dates, manager Paul McGuinness rues that: "Our biggest and I believe best tour has been interrupted and we’re all devastated.
