BloomsDay Celebrations in Dublin

June 16, two weeks from today, will see Dublin overtaken by BloomsDay, a one day event that celebrates the Dublin depicted in James Joyce's seminal novel Ulysses. The festival honours the novel by taking place on the day it's set- also, not entirely coincidentally, the day Joyce took his wife Nora out for the first time- is named after the novel's main character, Leopold Bloom.
Events include Joyce enthusiasts dressing in Edwardian costumes, the Joyce centre preparing themed Bloomsday breakfasts, including kidney, which Leopold Bloom eats in the novel, readings, a one man show called 'Jimmy Joyced' by Donal O'Kelly, talks ...
