If it’s music, food, stout and merriment you’re looking for, get yourself down to the Beamish & Crawford site in Cork this August for the second 2012 installment of Murphy’s Little Big Weekend.
On Saturday 25, see a legend of the UK post-punk scene, Peter Hook of Joy Division and New Order, at the Murphy’s Big Gig. ‘Hooky’ will play a Joy Division album in its entirety with his band The Light, as well as a selection of classics including ‘Love Will Tear Us Apart’ and ‘Blue Monday’. Support is provided by Cork’s Dead School.
The Murphy’s Rising gig on Sunday 26 offers a great line-up, including Jape, John Spillane, O Emperor, Toby Kaar and The Would Be’s, playing across the main stage, the acoustic stage and the electronic stage.
Before that, visit the Bia, Ceoil agus Craic event during the afternoon where you can sample some of Cork’s finest artisan cuisine, alongside a lively day’s trad music curated by the De Barra’s Folk Club of Clonakilty.
