Carrigtwohill Medieval Festival and Country Fair

The 2010 Carrigtwohill’s Medieval Festival and Country Fair in County Cork, Ireland, will bring the traditions of the Irish countryside to life.

Set in the magical surroundings of Barryscourt Castle, near Cork City, the excitement of days past will be presented in the Medieval Village, with archery, jousting and knights on horseback. Living history exhibitions and displays will include the re-enactment of WW2 battles, complete with explosives and machine gun fire – suitably backed up by performances from the Army Band.

Irish Country Fair traditions will see horticulture shows from small farm animals to champion bulls, along with country games, dog and pony shows, Irish farmers markets, crafts, cookery demonstrations and the baking the bastible. The sporting side of country life will be presented with falconry, clay pigeon shooting and gun dog training. There will be Irish dancing and live music performances throughout the Festival and entertainment for children will include pony rides and a fun fair.
