Now in its ninth year, the Glasgowbury festival was packed to capacity over the weekend.
Organiser Paddy Glasgow told Hot Press he was delighted with the turnout at Eagles Rock in Co Derry.
“We’d great crowds, great energy – it was brilliant,” says Glasgow. “The weather was pretty good, we had a wee shower in the evening but it didn’t dampen anybody’s spirits,” he says.
2010 will be the independent festival’s tenth anniversary. “Not bad for what we started as, just a community group,” says Glasgow. “We’re not a big corporate buck so we’re glad to just be here. The festival started off by musicians for musicians,” he says.
The line-up was made up of Norn Iron’s best non-mainstream acts, headlined by post-punk instrumental outfit And So I Watch You From Afar.
Derry locals Here Comes the Landed Gentry charmed all and sundry with their old school rock & roll, while Belfast indy/pop three-piece General Fiasco cemented the reputation they established when they played their first ever gig at Glasgowbury ’07. Another highlight was the fantastic set from token Free Staters, The Mighty Stef.
