It looks like good old Skibbereen will become a proper hot spot for live music this weekend, with the Cork by Southwest festival taking place on Saturday, August 1.

The fest will be headlined by The Waterboys (pictured), who will also be performing in Galway the previous night. Thankfully the event is all tented and thus completely rain-proof, and the line-up also boasts Jerry Fish and the Mudbug Club, Lisa Hannigan, John Spillane and David O’Doherty.

Camping is available on site for those who wish to brave the elements in the name good fun, with plenty of accommodation also on offer in the nearby Skibbereen town. It’s still a bit early for accurate weather forecasts but whatever conditions abound in Cork come the weekend, it’s bound to be a Saturday night to remember.
