In our continuing guide to what’s hot this week, we present the Festival News guide to family fun at the Street Performers World Championship.
What: AIB Street Performers World Championship
When: June 18-21
Where: Merrion Square, Dublin
How much: Free – hurrah!
How to get there: By bus: Most buses to the city centre will put you within easy walking distance of Merrion Square. By train: DART to Pearse St Station. 5 minute walk from Grafton St. It will be hard to miss all of the balloons, people on stilts and the 30-foot long sleeping pig on display.
What to do there: Be entertained! You’ll find fire-breathers, jugglers, contortionists, comedians and breakdancers. You can get your face painted or have a balloon animal made especially for you.
What to bring: Some food for the lovely picnic area and some rugs to sit on if you want to laze out on the grass. The weather is to be a bit temperamental this weekend so bring a jacket or you might be going home with a cold!
Weather: There’s a chance of rain on Thursday and Friday, but Saturday and Sunday should be quite warm and sunny, with scattered clouds.
