This week: DLR Glasthule Opera Festival

Emily Alexander in La Boheme

It’s a busy week on the festival front, so we’ve decided to bring you some handy daily run-downs of the top events so you can plan your social life with ease!

First up, the Dun Laoghaire Opera Festival, which kicks off today.

What: DLR Glasthule Opera Festival
When: June 16-27
Where: Pavilion Theatre, Dun Laoghaire
How much: €25-€40
Getting there: It’s across the road from Dun Laoghaire Dart Station and beside the bus stops for the 7, 7a, 8, 45a, 46a, 59, 75, 111. There is also a car park for those who want to drive out.
What to do there: As Dun Laoghaire’s first opera festival, there will be a selection of performances to choose from, celebrating Irish and internaional talent. Catch shows like La Bohéme, Riders To The Sea and The Wandering Scholar throughout the month, as well as a special celebration of Bloomsday with the ‘Remembering the Tenors of Ireland’ concert today (June 16).
What to bring: All you will need is your wallet, some change for the Dart and an evening off to enjoy yourself.
Weather: Luckily, the Pavilion is indoors so there is no need to worry about raingear or suncream. However, on sunny days Dun Laoghaire is a hotbed of activity so it may be difficult to find a parking spot.
