Ballina’s annual film festival, Sound + Vision, will be taking a look at Bob Dylan and how he’s been portrayed on the big screen.
Running from June 29-July 3, the festival kicks off with I’m Not There, the 2007 film starring the late Heath Ledger, Cate Blanchett and Marcus Carl Franklin – all of whom play Dylan at different stages in his life.
On June 30, the 1973 film Pat Garrett & Billy The Kid, with music composed by Dylan, will be shown.
Thursday’s film screening, Masked and Anonymous was co-written by and stars Bob Dylan alongside a heavyweight cast, including John Goodman, Jeff Bridges, Penélope Cruz, Mickey Rourke, Val Kilmer, Jessica Lange and many others.
The final screening on July 2 will be The Last Waltz, a film on a Dylan’s 1976 Thanksgiving Day Concert.
Once the films end, the music starts with The Walls and The Stunning taking on their own tribute to the man himself.

All events take place in the Ballina Arts Centre and start at 8pm sharp. Admission is €6.

I guess Renaldo and Clara was left out because of the 4 hour run time. Here again, Dylan was pushing the limits of the medium he was working in.
Bob has written hundreds of classic songs, acted, painted, and written a highly praised autobiography. The range of human emotions he has explored with his art is truly amazing.
    Long live Bob Dylan!!

Hi Moonj, we actually tried to get Renaldo & Clara as it would have been a great one to show at such a festival. Unfortunately, nobody has the distribution rights for Ireland, so we could not show it, legally.
