A group in Texas, the Liberal Ladies Who Lunch, is calling for a week-long sex strike as a response to efforts to limit government spending on women’s health issues and birth control. As a form of non-violent protest, women have used collective sex strikes for hundreds of years to make their men pay attention, often with great results. Being denied sex is one way to make people sit up, although a week’s sex strike doesn’t seem particularly long, especially considering the fact that if American women are denied access to contraception, a lot of men could find themselves going without sex for a lot longer.
