Lasting Longer - Tips and Tricks for Men

Every Thursday on Sexually Speaking with the wonderful Mr Victor Barry, I get asked about premature ejaculation and lasting longer. Here’s the information about Kegel exercises and some other ideas to try out.

KEGEL EXERCISES FOR MEN

The PC muscle is the pubococcygeus muscles – bit of a mouthful. If you are not sure where this muscle is, it’s the one you’d use to stop the flow of pee in mid-stream. Exercising this muscle has many benefits such as preventing incontinence in later life – always a worry! But for our purposes, this is the muscle that you need to exercise if you want to last longer and learn how to be multi-orgasmic.

There are a number of different exercises – chose the one you like best and stick to it. Just make sure you’ve located the correct muscle before you begin.

Exercise 1
Clench and unclench your PC muscle for 10 seconds. Take a 10 second break. Perform three times, then take a 30 second break.
Clench and unclench for 5 seconds with 5 second breaks in between. Do this 10 times in a row.
Clench your PC muscle for 30 seconds and release for 30 seconds. Repeat 3 times.
Repeat all the above exercises once again.
Do this exercise daily.

Exercise 2
Clench your PC muscle and count to 5. Release. Repeat 10 times.
Clench and release your PC muscle 10 times quickly. Repeat 3 times.
Tighten and release your PC muscle in long and short intervals for counts of 10. Repeat 3 times.
Clench your muscle and hold it for as long as you can. Aim to work your way up to 120 seconds.
Repeat this exercise daily.

Exercise 3
Clench and release your muscle over and over again. Begin with one set of 30, and then slowly work your way up to over 100.
Clench tightly clenching. Hold it for 20 seconds. Rest for 30 seconds. Repeat 5 times.
Do this exercise daily.

Exercise 4
Clench and releasing your muscle for 2 minutes a day and work your way up to doing it for 20 minutes at least 3 times a day. You should eventually be able to perform at least 200 repetitions per session.

With all exercise, this takes time. You should notice a difference in 4 to 8 weeks.

MULTIPLE ORGASMS FOR MEN
Now, the fun bit. Guys with good PC muscle control not only find it easier to delay orgasm, but can also learn to be multi-orgasmic.

The trick is to jerk off. When you reach the point where you are about to come, squeeze the PC muscle. Eventually you should not only be able to stop ejaculation, but experience the sensation of orgasm without shooting your load. Nifty. This needs regular practice… a hard task I’m sure.

PREMATURE EJACULATION… IN THE MEANTIME

However, if you need some help while you are still practising your Kegel exercises, here are some things to try:
One of the simplest things to do is simply to jerk off some time before having sex. This should take the edge off.

Wear an erection ring that prevents blood from leaving the penis.

Desensitisation. Try Durex’s Extended Pleasure condoms. These little fellas contain a numbing agent so you don’t get too excited. Some men use thicker condoms to numb pleasure and allow themselves to last longer. Once you feel she’s had a good innings, whip this off and slip into something more comfortable.

Bring her to orgasm first either orally or manually. If she’s been sexually satisfied this way, shorter penetrative sex will be less frustrating. Alternatively, invest in a good sex toy to help proceedings along or to extend the sexual experience for her after you’ve ejaculated.

Many men think that once they start the penetrative sex bit, that’s it. For most women, the best long shagging sessions are not hours and hours of penetrative sex as the vagina will get sore after a while. Have sex, stop for a while and stimulate your partner either orally or manually again to give yourself a bit of a break. Keep loads of condoms handy and use a fresh one when you re-enter her.

    hey anne,
do you need to have an erection to do those exercises?

  2. annesexton Says:

    hey

no, not for the kegel’s. But obviously if you are doing the masturbation exercise, it would probably help!

  3. fran. k Says:

    no, i meant the kegels

I got an exercise one time that said you should
put a towel on your erection (while standing up) and “lift” it.

I found it quite hard to
    a) not feel totally ridiculous
    b) do it often enough

  4. annesexton Says:

yeah… i’d forget about the towel… you need some dignity!

like all exercise they are a pain and i would get all enthusiastic and forget a few days later. but once you get used to them you can do them anywhere — on the bus, walking, stuck in traffic. the trick is to set a time and remember it.

every time i see an ad for incontinence pants it reminds me that there’s more than one good reason to keep it up…
